Aim of the assignment

Lead us in a discussion about an interesting application you found for network visualization. This will help you gain a deeper understanding of an application area—ideally one that is relevant for your course project. Moreover, these discussions will introduce the rest of the class to a variety of applications that may be of interest.

Instructions

1. Select a network visualization application area to present about. You can pick from any area on this list (for which we provide relevant readings) or something else entirely. Post your intended application area to Slack to claim it. If someone else has claimed it on Slack already, pick a different area.

2. Plan your discussion and prepare slides. Prepare a 30-minute discussion around the individual application you discovered of interest. Create any visual aids you want to go along with your discussion, e.g. PowerPoint, Keynote, or Beamer slides. You are welcome to incorporate activities to demonstrate relevant visualization techniques or otherwise complement the discussion.

3. Lead the discussion in class on Thursday 2024-02-01 or Tuesday 2024-02-06. We’ll decide in class who will be on which day.

Submission instructions

Submit your assignment in Gradescope (see Gradescope’s documentation for general details). The easiest way to get into Gradescope the first time is to first sign into Canvas (see link at the top of the page) and then click the link on our course for “Gradescope”. You should then also have the option to create an account on Gradescope (if you don’t already have one) so that you can log in to Gradescope directly.
